“Bird-o-Rama” is a design I reproduced a few years back from a 1955 Sears catalogue (actually not a true reproduction as I had only a small swatch of the fabric to work off, so some of the elements are improvised). I recently decided to extend it into a full ‘collection’, and also add a new mustard, mint and navy colourway.
I had a lot of fun with the designs in the collection! The original repro is a playful, midcentury modern design, so I wanted the rest of the collection to reflect that same kooky and kinetic style. I referenced diverse resources from the era including designer Lucienne Day (“Webbed Feet” is closely inspired by her “Isosceles” print), wallpapers, and formica laminates, to round out the collection with a selection of feature designs and low-volume companion prints.
