I love warm evenings of golden sunlight and long shadows. Spring is the season of optimism and potential, the fresh green leaf and bright blossom heralding a promise of new beginnings and brighter things ahead. Mid April teased a few gloriously sunny and hot days, before spring retreated as suddenly as it had arrived, and a winter chill descended. Temperatures dropped precipitously back into low single figures centigrade. But the tide of spring has already turned and can't be held back, and everywhere you look trees and hedgerows and gardens are bursting into bloom and new leaf.
We just got membership of Kew Gardens, and if I time it right I can just make it after work before last entry, and enjoy a stroll through the lawns and bowers and avenues as part of my daily commute. It's been wonderful to watch the fruit trees come to bud and blossom over the past few weeks. And now bluebell season is upon us, so watch this space...
This dress from The Pretty Dress Company is an absolute dream to wear - it's structured and sturdy enough to provide a waist cinch even without foundations, the draped bodice is super flattering, and the neckline is low enough to be glamorous but not so low that it's indecent on a bigger bust. I found mine in a local charity shop together with a many-seasons-ago Collectif dress that doubtless came from the same owner (whoever you are, please keep donating your vintage repro cast-offs so I can keep snapping them up!)
