This was one of my simpler makes for 2017 - simpler, that is, in the sense that I didn't spend days, weeks and months agonising over the right pattern for precious fabric, or make half a dozen muslins to perfect the fit. The fabric is a rayon crepon from Fashion Fabrics Club - it was reasonably priced and I thought the woodgrain effect and roses had a fun midcentury vibe. I made it up using the boat-neck bodice from Gertie's Ultimate Dress Book, paired with a simple gathered skirt.
Wingate Road is a wonderfully colourful street quite near Goldhawk Road where I do much of my fabric shopping - I love stopping into this street on the way, just for the joy of the candy-coloured houses! Maybe I should do a feature on my favourite colourful locations in London for photo shooting - would anyone be interested in that? Let me know in the comments!
